The Resurrection of Care
The Resurrection of Care is a participatory ceremony devised by Eliza Swann in 2015 with Golden Dome.
Having spent time in San Francisco in the early 2000s, she had heard rumors about the Bohemian Grove men’s club gathering in the redwoods to perform a ritual called the Cremation of Care where they banish the spirit of caring before doing their business deals. In 2015, she began organizing the Resurrection of Care with Golden Dome as a response—not just to counter that sentiment, but to affirm what Golden Dome has always stood for: interdependence, nurturance, and CARE energy. The Resurrection of Care is a way for the Golden Dome community to gather in love: to hear one another’s pain and to celebrate one another’s joy.
Since its beginning, the ceremony has evolved organically, shaping itself around an opening prayer devised by Edgar Fabián Frías—an invocation of the Goddexx of Love that helps set the tone for each gathering. Participants often contribute to the ceremony through processions, hand-dyed garments, flowers, and vessels for water blessings, creating a shared visual and emotional landscape.
The Resurrection of Care has taken place in a range of spaces, including Coaxial Arts, MaRS Gallery, Echo Park Lake, Gaylord Apartments, Ernest E. Debs Park, Honey's Brooklyn, Muscle Beach, and the Philosophical Research Society. Across locations and years, it remains grounded in the same intention: to gather in love and to affirm care as a shared, living practice.
